Apple iPhone 6 Release Date, Rumors, News and Updates
iPhone 6 is one of the most anticipated flagship smartphones of 2014. Since iPhone 5S and 5C, the predecessor of iPhone 6 didn’t come with any out of the box specifications, the expectation from iPhone 6 is far greater. The tech geeks are expecting that with the release of iPhone 6, Apple will crawl back to its former position i.e. the first position in the global mobile market.
There is a lot of buzz surrounding iPhone 6, however all of them are not true. Here is an honest and unexaggerated opinion about the specifications of Apple’s iPhone 6 for all the aficionados:
Release Date of Iphone6
We are definitely going to see iPhone 6 in 2014, though we are not really sure about the exact release date. In the earlier years it has been seen that Apple prefers WWDC for launching its products and thereafter releases it in the month of September. Rumour has it that iPhone 6 will be bigger in size, as Apple wants to compete with the phablet style phone released by its rivals. This fact has been stated in many platforms, and the tech geeks have also argued that Apple is taking such a step as in the Asian market demand for phablet style phone is quite high. Therefore, we are giving importance to this particular piece of info. However, it might so happen that Apple is just experimenting with this idea and in the end its size would not be that big.
iPhone 6’s Design
As far as iPhone 6’s design is concerned we are expecting it to take inspiration from both iPhone 5C and iPod Nano. The colour variation and curvy body of iPhone 5C and the anodised aluminium body of iPod Nano will be a perfect combo for iPhone 6. Our speculations are based on some of the leaked photos from Foxconn factory, where we get to see a curvaceous next generation iPhone similar to iPhone 5C’s design. Though the snap is really hazy, but we can see a sensor at the bottom which will probably be used for the alleged Healthbook app.
One thing we are absolutely sure of is that iPhone 6 is going to come with a bigger screen size as there is demand for bigger size smartphones in the market and most of Apple’s competitors, like HTC One and Sony Xperia Z2 are coming in bigger size. Therefore, if Apple continues with its 4 inch product line, then it will be definitely disadvantageous for this Cupertino brand.
There were many speculations surrounding the screen size of iPhone 6. Lately, KGI analyst Ming Chi Kuo has stated that in 2014 Apple will release two gadgets: iPhone measuring 4.7 inch and iPhablet measuring 5.5 inch. They are going to hit the market in the third and fourth quarter of the year respectively. This piece of info has been also confirmed by Reuters. Renowned tipster, Ming Chi Kuo has also stated that the two displays will have different screen resolutions. MacRumors, further specified that the 4.7 inch screen would have 1334 x 760 resolution with 326 pixel density and the 5.5 inch screen will have 1920 x 1080 resolution with 401 pixel density. However, we are not really sure about the varying screen resolution as that that would mean that the app developers have to develop two sets of apps compatible with two variations of Apple phones.
However, if you take a look at Apple’s previous product, then you will get to know that Apple has never stressed much on screen resolution. Apple prefers screen resolution that scale easily from its previous range of products. Apple products have always earned accolades due to their superior picture quality and we are of the opinion that Apple will stick to this basic with iPhone 6’s screen. Such study has inspired us to think that iPhone 6 manufacturers are going to stress on the use of quantum dot technology, that ensures far superior image quality than simply focusing screen resolution.
Quantum dots are nanoparticles made of semiconductor material that are used for creating light. The size of the quantum dots is the most important factor, and the manufacturers can customize it in accordance with their preference to display precisecolours on the screen. This technology has been also used in Kindle Fire HDX, but there were some defects. We have heard rumours that developers at Apple are working hard to overcome the limitation of the quantum technology so that it can be used in iPhone 6.
Tougher Body of iPhone 6
Smartphones are extremely fragile. Just in case it slips off from your hand, within a split of a second you will be left with a cracked screen and dysfunctional phone. Most smartphone manufacturers have been trying to find a solution to deal with this problem, but with little progress. However, it seems like that Apple has made some advancement in this regard in its next generation phone.
Apple has signed a new contract with GT Advanced Technologies for the supply of sapphire glass. Sapphire glass is extremely hardy, durable and resistant to scratches. Sapphire glass scores 9 in the Moh scale that its hardness is just next to diamond. Previously, sapphire glass was used in the camera lens and home button of Apple only making these features resistant to scratches and damages. But this year Apple has signed a contract of $578 million with GT Advanced Technologies, using which the GT Advanced Technologies will expand its production in mass scale.
Such developments triggers the idea that mass scale production of sapphire glasses would not be required for camera and home screen button, but probably for the whole screen of the next generation iPhone and thereby making the iPhone sturdy and tough.
There are also news about iPhone 6’s case made up of liquid metal, which is very tough and durable. Therefore, if iPhone 6 has liquid metal casing then it is surely going to be an add-on feature making the phone literally unbreakable. Apple has filed five patents circumscribing liquid metal and therefore, we can expect it to be used in iPhone 6 so that this flagship phone gets an edge over others.
iPhone 6’s Camera
As far as the camera of iPhone 6 is concerned, Apple is again keeping its focus on technology used rather than specifications. Rumour has it that two improvisations that Apple aims to introduce in the camera of the next generation phone are refocusable camera and advanced optical image stabilization facility. In the lightfield camera, a technology is being used whereby the camera captures light fields rather than the 2D images. Therefore, making it possible to refocus on different part of an image. However, one major limitation of using this technology is that it takes only low resolution images. In Apple’s patent, mention is being made of two modes high resolution non refocusable mode and low resolution refocusable mode. After, studying the patent if seems like that iPhone 6’s camera is going to have a lightfield mode which the users can either turn on or off. Integrating this technology in a smartphone will be a big challenge, but we still hope iPhone 6 to come with such cutting edge features.
A much more realistic update in iPhone 6’s camera will be enhancing its optical image stabilization abilities, therefore reducing the possibility of photos getting blurred and clicking better photographs in low light.
There are also rumours about Apple using two image sensors in iPhone 6 to boost quality of the photograph clicked. One sensor will capture light and another one colour. Thereafter, the two will be amalgamated to ultimately produce high quality pictures.
We are expecting Apple to come with 64GB of storage capacity as that has been the upper limit of iPhone 5S. However, Apple has already pioneered the technology for escalating the capacity to 128 GB and therefore we would not be surprised to see iPhone 6 with the same capability.
Chipset of iPhone6
iPhone 5S was the first phone that has used a 64 bit chipset, thereby ensuring the processor runs efficiently. Though we expect iPhone 6 to be integrated with this hi-tech chipset, but who knows we might get to see some improvisation as well ensuring proficient functioning of iPhone 6.
Moreover, there are also chances of Apple introducing its own mobile payment system with iPhone 6, but unfortunately we have not yet heard of any definite plan as to how Apple will go about this concept. But if not with iPhone 6, Apple is working to develop this technology and TIM Cook, CEO Apple has himself confirmed the fact. Many concept designs of iPhone 6 is also being developed by renowned techies but there has been no confirmation from the iPhone 6 manufacturer themselves.
